Commentary by Cam:

A Bathing Ape is a brand I came across my senior year at NC State (05’/06’) when Pharrell was wearing it all over the place. Intrigued, 2 summers later I took take a flight out to LA to hangout with some friends and pay BAPE (LA) a visit.

It was me and one of my homies who played for UCLA Mike Fey; fool is 7 ft. tall, so when we hit the door it was hilarious!, but anyways, I had every intent on buying anything I wanted on this trip and I did. Center of the shop is where the sneakers were. They sat us down inside there and roped off all the entry/exits to the sneaker area for about an hour. LOVE! - - We racked up, all and all a great visit!

Upon my tip back home to North Carolina I had to fly from LA to Dallas. Happy as hell, I’m walking through the airport and decide to stop at a magazine shop. I was there about 20 minutes or so and then I left. The Dallas airport is HUGE, I had to walk down the hall, down the stairs, take a shuttle to the other building and back through security all over again for my flight to North Carolina.  I finally got to the security gate and as I’m putting my belongings up on the scanner belt I realize I DO NOT HAVE MY SHOES!! Almost $600 worth of shoes?? You can imagine how one would be feeling in a situation like this. I immediately RAN!

I had to run all the way back down stairs to the shuttle, take that back to the other building, run down the hall and back up the stairs only to run back down the hall to where I was. I was also running with a long board I purchased on my visit, it was just madness!

I’m out of breath but focused on everyone’s hands that my eyes could see. I saw nothing. All of a sudden I looked at the book store I was at earlier. I walked in looking at the floor and at people’s hands, and when I continued to walk further into the store I see 2 Bathing Ape bags…untouched, parallel from each other right beside where I was standing. Out of breath, sweating, but thankful, I took a huge breath, picked em’ up and left. I retraced my steps back to the security gate for my North Carolina flight and made that flight in time. When I finally got onto the plane and sat down all I could do was thank God!

I purchased 3 pair of A Bathing Ape sneakers from BAPE (LA) and am pretty sure they won’t be coming back out with these. Stay tuned..
